Police Arrest Teacher Who Knocked Down Special Needs Student

In surveillance footage from the school, a special needs teacher appears to shove her knee into a student's back.

Police announced that they have arrested a teacher who was caught on surveillance video knocking over a child with special needs.

The teacher, identified as 71 year old Amelia Stripling, turned herself in to police Friday afternoon, after warrants were issued for her arrest.

She was charged with 2nd degree cruelty to a child. The incident happened at the Tift County Pre-K Center in Tifton on March 17.

The child's mother said Stripling thrust her knee into the little boy's back, causing him to fall. Stripling resigned the next day. Tift County School officials said the young boy was not injured, and reported the incident to the Division of Family and Children Services.
